Financial Aid Frequently Asked Questions 2017-2018
The high school tuition for the 2018-2019 school year is $9,250 plus a $1000 composite fee and $250 registration fee.
Yes, there is! During the 2017-2018 school year, we awarded over $610,000 in scholarships and grants to our high school students. In fact, about 85% of our high school students received some type of scholarship, grant, or financial aid for an average award of about $3,200. We are fortunate to have generous donors who allow us to provide financial aid for those in need.
Yes. If you are applying for financial grants, you must also complete the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3FHMB. The application will be available beginning November 1st. There is a $30 fee to apply, paid directly to FACTS. You must also mail, upload, or fax your 2016 or 2017 tax return and 2017 W-2 forms to FACTS in order for your application to be complete. For early verification, the 2016 completed tax return with all schedules and the 2017 W2’s must be uploaded. Please note it takes approximately two weeks for FACTS to process your tax documentation and the school cannot process a financial aid award until the tax documentation is received. We encourage all families to start the process as close to November 1st as possible. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2017 for incoming freshmen.
The Fr. John Stites Scholarship requires families to meet with the Finance Department to discuss their personal situation to outline the basis for the additional request. The additional request for financial aid is then taken to a committee of the board of directors who evaluate and approve any additional grants. All families must complete the FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3FHMB before they are considered for the grant. The application deadline for the Fr. John Stites Scholarship is February 16, 2018 for incoming freshmen.
FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment service does factor in the household size and the family’s expenses when determining the calculation of need, so families with higher incomes do often qualify depending on their circumstances. If a family does not qualify for financial aid during the first round, we invite the family to complete the Fr. Stites Scholarship and meet with the Vice President of Finance to discuss their personal situation.
We also have other assistance available that does not require financial need. For high school students, some of these include:
- Presidential Scholarship up to $5,000 per year (renewable for three years with a minimum G.P.A of 3.5) for those incoming freshmen who demonstrate superior academic excellence.
- St. Kateri Deanery Parishioner Grant of $300. Pastor recommendation is required.
- Multiple Student Grant of 10% for a families’ second child, 20% discount for a families’ third child and a 30% discount for any additional children in the school.
- Stewardship Grant of $500 for Catholic students who are altar servers, members of a youth ministry program, or involved in other specified parish activities. Pastor recommendation is required.
- Legacy Grant of $1,000 for children of alumni.
- Cardinal Scholarship of $1,000 for current Cardinal Stritch eighth graders who continue on to Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School.
Yes, we offer tuition credits through the SCRIP program and the Kroger Community Rewards program. You can even start participating in these now to help for next year’s tuition!
Many parishes also award scholarships to qualified applicants. Please contact your parish directly for more information.
We operate on a prepaid tuition system meaning that tuition must be paid by May 18, 2018 for the 2018-2019 year. If you prepay tuition and your student does not attend the school for some reason, your tuition is fully refundable before the start of the school year. Fees are non-refundable.
Families can divide their tuition balance into monthly payments over 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 months. All seniors must be paid in full by April of the year they are graduating, so only 8, 9 and 10 monthly payments are offered. If you need to make monthly payments, you will need to sign up by May 18, 2018 for the FACTS payment plan using the FACTS link on our website. There is up to a $200 finance charge automatically added to the account if tuition is not paid in full by May 18, 2018.
