Clubs & Activies

There are many opportunities for Stritch students to participate in athletics, clubs, groups and other organizations. Taking part in extracurricular activities can be a very rewarding part of the Cardinal Stritch experience. Cardinal’s Nest is a group of parents working together to plan activities for Pre K- 8th grade students, families and teachers to enhance their experience at Cardinal Stritch.

(Middle School)
The SKCA Student Council helps plan events, Spirit Weeks, pep rallies and other programming for the entire Academy. Students learn leadership skills and public speaking skills, while helping to build school spirit and foster the Cardinal family in the Academy.

Members: Officers and grade level representatives are elected in the fall for the school year.

Book Club

Book Club

(Grades 4-5)
The SKCA Book Club encourages a love of reading beyond the classroom. Students come together to read books and practice their speaking voices and creative interpretation of characters. Discussion may include stories that have been read before the club meets or the story they are reading at that time.

Members: 4th & 5th graders by registration.

Meetings: Monthly on selected Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Ms. Pahl's room.

Coding Club

Coding Club

(Grades 3-8)
Coding Club introduces and reinforces coding techniques through the code.org web site. Students participate in the international Hour of Code in December. Students learn problem solving techniques, critical thinking skills, and have fun the whole time. At the end of each session the students share projects that they have been working on.

Members: 3rd - 8th graders by registration.

Meetings: Second and Fourth Thursdays from 2:50 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Ms. Contos' room.

Lego Club

Lego Club

(Grade 3)
Lego Builders design amazing creations with a special theme at each meeting. Students have the opportunity to show off their creative sides in the wonderful world of building with legos.

Quiz Bowl

Quiz Bowl

(Grades 7-8)
The SKCA Quiz Bowl team offers lightning fast responses to tough trivia questions while competing with other Catholic elementary schools in the Toledo area.

Moderator: Mrs. Schafer (sschafer@katerischools.org)

Members: Selected by qualifying test score in the fall. Any 7th or 8th grader may participate in the test.

 

Safety Patrol

Safety Patrol

(Grades 4-8)
Safety Patrol helps maintain order in the Parking Lot during student pick up at the end of the day. Students follow a duty rotation throughout the school year. Elementary students work the elementary dismissal, and middle school students work their dismissal. All safety patrol members attend a special training before working a dismissal.

Members: Safety patrol is open to any student in grades 4-8.

Art & Recycling Club

Art & Recycling Club

(Grades 9-12)
Mission statement: “Who better to actively seek to protect the natural beauty of our world through recycling than those who work to make the world a more beautiful place.”

The Art and the Recycling Clubs merged in 2009 to form the Art & Recycling Club in response to a $10,000 grant awarded by the BP A+ for Energy program for the purpose of educating and initiating a recycling program for Cardinal Stitch. We have continued to support the recycling efforts of the school as well as to celebrate the visual arts through monthly meetings.

Members: All CSCHS students who share in the mission are welcome to join.

Cardinal Core

Cardinal Core

(Grades 10-12)
Cardinal Core is the student backbone for Catholic Identity at CSCHS. Members have an active role in Mass preparation and celebration as servers, lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, and musicians. They also help coordinate other school liturgies including Advent and Lenten Penance Services, Stations of the Cross, guest speakers, etc. Members of the Cardinal Core help lead retreats at Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School & Academy.

Members: Students complete an application and participate in an interview process in the spring to be selected to the Cardinal Core.

Euchre Club

Euchre Club

(Grades 9-12) 
Members of the CSCHS Euchre Club are students of all skill levels. Participants learn the rules and strategies of Euchre while maintaining positive attitudes and friendships with other students.

Moderator: Mr. Petro (mpetro@katerischools.org)

Members: Any student is welcome; no experience necessary.

Meetings: Thursdays during the Short Assembly club time in the Cafeteria.
