Good Advice from our Health Care Provider - Paula Rutkowski

Should your child stay home or should he go to school?  That's the question many parents ask themselves.  If your child is not feeling well here are a few guidelines to help you decide.

  • Runny Nose, Coughing, Congestion:  Keep your child home if he has all of these symptoms, or one of them that is pretty bad; for example, congestion that makes it hard to breathe or causes constant coughing.  If they also have a fever and joint aches, it could be the flu - so staying at home is a must.
  • Sore Throat:  Keep your child home if it really hurts him to swallow, even if there's no fever.  See the doctor, because it could be strep.
  • Earache:  Keep your child home if the pain is severe; if the pain is waking him up at night crying and complaining.  He may need to see a doctor for antibiotics.
  • Vomiting or Diarrhea:  Keep your child home if he has either of these.  This is usually a sign that they are contagious.  They must be symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Rash:  Keep your child home if they have an unusual or severe rash.  Many viruses and some bacteria can cause a rash.
  • Fever:  Children must be fever-free 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

Get your child to the doctor for a flu shot, and practice hand-washing at home!

Hand-washing and keeping the hands out of the mouth and nose is the best preventative for spreading germs.

Just a reminder that when making an online payment please remember to add "lunch", "EDP", "tuition", etc. or whatever the payment is for with your child's name.  This helps us to know what account to credit.

Breakfast at Cardinal Stritch

In October we served 434 breakfasts. That means that 434 times last month a student began their day at an advantage by:

  • Reducing their reactions to stress
  • Improving their concentration
  • Improving their diets
  • Improving their test scores

If you haven't tried our breakfast, what are you waiting for?  It's only $1.50 per day, 30¢ for reduced priced students.

Beginning next week we will be implementing a hot option on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What are YOU waiting for?

Lunch Account Management

Many of our students are running negative on their lunch accounts.

You can check your student's balance on PowerSchool, it is updated daily.  Remember a negative represents monies owed on account.  Our policy is to only allow one charge to be carried on their account.  Once the student has gone beyond this amount they may be refused to purchase anything further.  The options for adding money to your student's lunch are:

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your student's account, please feel free to contact me (Sally Finger) via email at sfinger@cardinalstritch.org or by phone at 419-693-0465 ext. 227.

Why do you serve that?

We have guidelines we must follow from the federal government governing how much of each of the five food groups must be offered daily and weekly.  We do offer alternative options for the students if they do not like the hot lunch option.  We are not required to do so and this is not intended to take the place of the offered hot lunch every day as that would put us out of compliance.
