Dear Cardinal Stritch Parents and Guardians,

Today, schools are tasked with doing so much more than just teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic.  Today, our teachers are charged with being counselors, mentors, and so much more.

Today, we are asking for your support of Cardinal Stritch by making a donation to the Cardinal Family Fund.  This important resource ensures that students continue to get the support they need today, tomorrow and well into the future.

Pledge forms are available online at www.cardinalstritch.org/support or in the Advancement Office at school.

Message from our school Health Care Provider -

Paula Rutkowski

Flu season is here!

Influenza (flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by the influenza virus. It can cause mild to severe illness.  The illness usually comes on suddenly with some or all of the following symptoms.

  • Fever/chills
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Sometimes vomiting and diarrhea

Please keep your child home until they are fever and symptom free for 24 hours without medication.  This is especially important because the flu virus is very contagious.

Should your child stay home or should he go to school?

That's a question many parents ask themselves.  If your child is not feeling well here are a few guidelines to help you decide.

  • Runny nose, coughing, congestion:  Keep your child home if he has all of these symptoms, or one of them that is pretty bad.  For example, congestion that makes it hard to breathe or constant coughing.  If he also has a fever and joint aches, it could be the flu - so staying home is a must.
  • Sore throat:  Keep your child home if it really hurts him to swallow, even if there's no fever.  See the doctor because it could be strep.
  • Earache:  Keep your child home if the pain is severe.  If the pain is waking him up at the night crying and complaining, he may need to see a doctor for antibiotics.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea:  Keep your child home if he has either of these.  This is usually a sign that they are contagious.  They must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Rash:  Keep your child home if they have an unusual or severe rash.  Many viruses and some bacteria can cause a rash.
  • Fever:  Children must be fever-free 24 hours without medication before returning to school.

Get your child to the doctor for a flu shot, and practice hand washing at home!

Hand washing and keeping the hands out of the mouth and nose is the best preventative for spreading germs.

Request from the Finance Office:

Just a reminder that when making an online payment please remember to add "lunch", "EDP", "tuition", etc. or whatever the payment is for with your child's name.  This helps us to know what account to credit.
