Keith Kennedy ‘94 has been named Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Keith Kennedy ‘94 has been named Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School & Academy. Coach Kennedy was with the Cardinals last season as a Varsity Assistant under Coach Tim Yenrick ‘81. Prior to joining the Stritch staff he has coached at the YMCA, Clay High School, Oregon Eagles AAU, and Ohio Clamps AAU. Coach Kennedy was also a former D3 College athlete at St. Mary’s college.

When asked about the position Coach Kennedy said, “I'm extremely excited to be back at my alma mater. Cardinal Stritch changed the trajectory of my life for the positive when I transferred my junior year of high school. Not only did Stritch give me the platform to excel at basketball, but it prepared me for moving on to college. I would not be in the position I am today without Cardinal Stritch.”

Coach Kennedy is the father of Logan ‘26 and Morgan ‘27. He’s looking forward to coaching his daughter Morgan once more as the Cardinals continue to build the program. “My goals may seem lofty to the outsider, but I feel are very achievable," he explained. “We will achieve double digit wins in my first few seasons by changing the culture, which will in turn change our outcome. With the division adjustments taking place within the state in ‘24-’25, it’s possible to see us in the state tournament within 3-5 years. We are going to roll up our sleeves and get to work immediately.”

The game is therapeutic for Coach Kennedy. He loves the fast pace aspect of the game where the details matter. He believes a high IQ in basketball can transition into a high IQ for everyday life. Coaching allows the opportunity to share his passion and knowledge with the younger generations. Coach Kennedy said, “We are not just trying to instill fundamentals of the sport, but prepare these kids for the real world. It's fulfilling when you see a kid not only apply your teachings on the court, but in their life.”

Prospective players (rising 7th-12th graders) and their families are welcome to meet Coach Kennedy for an informational meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in the media center. At this meeting you’ll be given a schedule of off-season workouts and information on the upcoming season. For any questions prior to or after the parent meeting, please contact Coach Kennedy via email at [email protected].

We look forward to seeing the hard work and dedication of Coach Kennedy and the Lady Cardinals pan out during the 2024-2025 season.
